Signup provenance is the origin story attached when a capture is accepted and stored: the surface, page, offer, arrival context, and consent wording supplied by that capture.

Signup provenance is the origin context stored with an accepted capture — surface, page, offer, referrer, and consent wording when those fields are supplied.
When provenance attaches
Form-based and API captures insert a provenance record when a new capture proceeds. Already-subscribed addresses are accepted without creating a second contact row or attaching new provenance. Honeypot hits and certain suppressed states return success without writing provenance.
Field dictionary
- Source surface
- The configured capture kind for a form submission, such as hosted page, inline embed, modal, in-app, offline/QR, or API. CSV imports do not create a capture provenance record.
- Page
- The page URL associated with the capture when supplied. An in-product screen can be represented in supported metadata.
- Offer
- The promise or lead magnet the person accepted when supplied by the form or integrator.
- Referrer
- The referring URL when available at capture time. Channel labels belong in UTM fields or metadata.
- UTM fields
- utm_source, utm_medium, and utm_campaign when present in the capture context.
- Visitor path
- Ordered steps the visitor took before signup when the integrator supplies them.
- Device type
- Device class reported with the capture context when supplied.
- Timestamp
- When the capture was accepted and stored.
- Consent evidence
- Consent wording and policy version recorded with the capture event.
